Babke Moelee, Amsterdam 1972
Her sculptures reflect human figures, in movement or consciously still, they depict an emotion or a moment in time. The sculptures are sometimes perceived as ‘fairy-tale-like’.
The sculptures are made in bronze.
Babke loves to combine this material with pieces of rock, water, smooth stones or wood. Through the interplay between various materials, she strengthens the contrast between hard and soft, smooth and rough, emphasizing that the sculptures are meant to be caressed. The colour combinations are always composed in a subtle way.
In addition to designing and making her own creations, Babke also takes on specific assignments. After consultation with the client regarding a sculpture for the home, the garden or a company, she prepares a model in wax. This model can be further customized in accordance with the customer’s wishes. Subsequently, the sculpture is cast in bronze, a fitting pedestal is selected and placed.
Throughout the year, Babke’s work features at exhibition in various cities in the Netherlands as well as internationally (Germany, Belgium, Austria etc.).
In her studio, house and garden in the wonderful countryside in the south of the Netherlands, her work can be viewed.
